Quality
The growers who deliver to Verhoeckx are all certified in accordance with EurepGAP standards. This means that they comply with all the rules concerning hygiene and cultivation methods. A trained quality inspector examines the products as they come in and grades them according to class. Subsequently they are sorted and prepared to be packed. Once they are packed, they are subjected to yet another quality inspection round, following which they are transported to the buyer.
Refrigeration
The fully refrigerated mushroom department consists of a reception area, a packaging area and refrigeration cells. High-speed doors connect the separate areas. An ecologically sound cooling plant was selected that uses glycol instead of freon. In addition, there are as many as eight individual fruit refrigeration cells to store the fruit throughout the year.
Packaging
In the packaging department, the products are set up manually, to ensure that every package is checked individually. After this phase, according to the client’s specifications, the packaging can be provided with a lid or plastic film automatically. The mix range is composed entirely manually, and subsequently packed at one of the packaging lines. The packaging is done at three different packaging lines.
Transport
In accordance withHACCP standards, the products are exclusively transported by lorries that are equipped with conditioning systems especially designed for the transport of fresh mushrooms and fruit. Verhoeckx’ own fleet ensures that the products are collected from the producers and delivered to the clients.
Accommodation
The modern business premises cover a 4500 m2 surface area. Both for fruit and for mushrooms, there are various halls for storage, packaging and sales. The latest technologies are implemented, so that all quality and hygiene regulations are complied with. Verhoeckx is certified in accordance with BRC and HACCP standards.
Technology
Modern technology is a blessing. The days of many hands and long working days are long gone. Production lines are automated to a significant extent. The packaging lines for sealing and covering are even fully automated. The highest possible quality level can nevertheless be guaranteed as quality inspections both during and after production remain in the hands of qualified professionals.
